Illuminart at Lights of Lobethal

The Lights of Lobethal Festival and Illuminart worked together in 2010 to create exciting new projects for the festival, that ranged from window projection displays inspired by Lobethal history, a light trail that featured hand made lanterns, solar powered displays, giant lanterns, and workshops where people could make their own lanterns to take home using bike-powered sewing machines.

The highlights of Illuminart’s projects were:

Window Projections These fun and quirky animations were based on scenes from Lobethal’s history, transformed by digital media artists into colourful projections.

Bike Powered Lantern Makers Stall Visitors could make a fabulous textile lantern to take home, using a sewing machine powered by cycling a bicycle.

Lobethal Lanterns Incredible hand made lanterns, made by local community groups working with local artist Victoria Harrison, adorned the main street in the daytime.

Giant Lanterns Large lanterns made by local artists Anne Griffiths and Karen Fennell, big enough to sit inside.

Solar Grove Sites These sites hosted lighting displays, powered from renewable energy.
